American worldview. Through many Black Females were not born into literal American ghettoes, as were Souljah and I, most, nevertheless, struggle for self determination and self-definition against the world's ghettoized image of them. Young Black females often struggle to invent themselves against the distorted images of “money hungry heartless bitch,” “Jezebel,” and good ole “Mammy” among others, many of which were created during slavery. -Patricia Hill Collins

We as African American Women should not settle for what society has deemed us as or replace our culture with the image of what a black woman should be according to mainstream media. As a minority we should always remember how far we’ve come as a people, but also keep in mind that we still have a long journey ahead of us, to reach where we need to be as a whole. Those of us who have steered away from the stereotypes or the sheer reality of the lives of most of us, should lend a helping hand to those who don’t understand as mentors or role models, instead of forgetting where they come from and where their roots lie. We should always teach one another the art of questioning, challenging the media and even what’s taught to us in educational institutions. We should instill that confidence of being African – American without changing who we are to fit into society. We should also use what we do learn from those institutions to teach and better one another.
Women in general have to make it a way in society to work as hard or harder than the male race and societies ignorant stubborn stand points. The background history of Black Woman has been brought up with the logic to work, think and broaden her horizons 20 times as strong than any other being, and to never let gender be the definition of your work and what is expected of you. As woman but not just woman Black African American Woman we must prove our disposition especially in a society that has been cast of horrid background, we as a whole need to know and show we are beyond just color, race, and skill, at the end of the day we all are woman of this generation.
